Dear job mates, I propose you one little lecture to face off together this new year:
"There are few people who is really able to educate. One thing is to evoke, other thing is to educate. And, of course, if you are an evocative, you are not, at the same time, educators. Educate is a work, during the time, and following a certain deeper idea. It is just like the sculptor's job: he pull out from a marble block the alive figure of human being; he has to use the chisel, paying attention, and with a sort of logical concept, in order to not break a too big block of marble and, therefore, waste all the work.
Education is an art, and arts need their own minimal technique; when you are owner of the technique you should add the creation. An evocation, without education, is just a disappointment.
This kind of education is a way to communicate himself or herself, everyone own way to face off the reality. Even if you are in one class, where it seems impossible to do anything, the only thing you can do it is to communicate yourself, your own way of life; a company. And this means that you have to live this company! If you don’t live it, what are you going to transmit? In this way of communication of yourself, they don’t have to see you, but something more. This point of view it sounds good for the maths teacher too; communicate yourself means communicate your passion for maths, and this is linked to your passion for all life; only a company could give you this passion for the life. My way to be lover of my own subject it has to show an experience.
For this reason, a group of educators is very important; and following this group you have to pay attention also to educate the youngest that they are not autonomous; they belong to something real, like a company.
"Pochi sono capaci davvero di educare. Un conto è evocare, un conto è educare! Non è detto che un evocatore sia anche un educatore. Educare è un lavoro che si svolge nel tempo e seguendo una certa idea di fondo. E’ come il lavoro dello scultore che tira fuori da un blocco di marmo quadrato l’immagine vivente di una persona; deve utilizzare lo scalpello con attenzione e secondo una certa logica, per non spezzarne un blocco troppo grande e rovinare tutta l’opera. L’educazione è un’arte e le arti hanno bisogno di una loro tecnica minima; alla padronanza della tecnica si aggiunge poi la creatività. L’evocazione che non ha educazione è una delusione.
Questa educazione consiste nel comunicare se stessi, il proprio modo di accostare la realtà. Anche se ci si trova in una classe in cui sembra di non potere fare nulla l’unica cosa che si deve fare è comunicare se stessi, il proprio stile di vita: una compagnia. Allora vuol dire che devi viverla questa compagnia! Se non la vivi tu, che cosa comunichi? In questo comunicare se stessi non devono vedere te, ma qualcos’altro. Il discorso vale anche per il professore di matematica: comunicare sé vuol dire comunicare la propria passione per la matematica, legata alla propria passione per la vita, passione che solo la compagnia ti dà. Il mio modo di essere appassionato a una materia deve riflettere un’esperienza.
Per questo il gruppo degli educatori è importantissimo, e tra essi anche chi si preoccupa dell’educazione alla compagnia, nel senso di “non-autonomia”, di appartenenza a qualcosa di concreto che è la compagnia.
